tips on healthy living from a sri lankan local

on the first day in unawatuna beach, here in sri lanka, the owner of amma’s guesthouse brought us a mug of tea and told us he’d just been for an 8kg run along the shore. 

lucky is 60 years old and has a body many men half his age would kill for; lean, defined, strong and flexible. 

after admiring his physique, he lent over with a wink and said “i run everyday, i garden and do exercise. i have never drunk or smoked. this is secret to being healthy and strong.

the simplicity of his words resonated with truth; the formula to a fitter body and happier soul, i believe, are exercise, meditation, good food and no drugs. following these simple rules, and others we may add along the way, will give us the foundation to a healthy heart and mind.
